Moon.com rakeback: what 3.5% is actually a percentage of
Rakeback is the only thing Moon.com hands back through a referral route, and it comes off fees. Not deposits, not wagers, not losses. Get that wrong and you have overestimated the number by about a factor of ten, which is roughly the mistake most other pages are making for you.
What rakeback actually is
Moon’s own words: if rakeback is switched on for your account, you get 3.5% of the fees you pay back. Winning wagers, losing wagers, both count. Not because Moon is generous on losers, but because you pay fees either way.
Read that carefully. It is a rebate on fees, so it is bounded by the fees you actually paid. No fee, no rebate. That is the opposite shape from a deposit bonus, which pays out against money you put in and then makes you wager it a few dozen times before you see any of it.
What the percentage comes off
Moon charges fees in three moments:
- Opening a wager. 1% of your wager, not the leveraged exposure.
- Holding a wager past 8 hours, and every 8 hours after that, at a rate Moon does not publish.
- Closing in profit, where a performance fee of at least 10% comes off the winnings.
The full schedule, including the house edge that sits alongside all of it:
| Fee or cost | Basis | Timing | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|---|
| Opening fee | 1% of the wager amount | When the bet is opened | Charged on the wager, not on leveraged exposure. Moon’s own example: a 1,000 wager at 10x controls 10,000 of exposure and pays a 10 opening fee. |
| Holding fee | Dynamic, not a fixed published percentage | Assessed every 8 hours while the bet stays open | Moon says the rate varies with market conditions, volatility, liquidity and funding costs. The terms describe holding fees as periodic and amendable. |
| Performance fee | Charged on realised profit | When a bet is closed at a profit | Moon documents a minimum of 10% of realised profits and states that no performance fee is charged on losing bets. Deducted before settlement. |
| House edge | Spread or pricing edge built into Moon’s quoted price | Present throughout the bet | Moon’s terms state the House Edge is separate from, and in addition to, the fee schedule. |
| Withdrawal and other charges | Set out in Moon’s published fee schedule | On the relevant transaction | The terms reference betting fees, holding fees, withdrawal fees and other charges, amendable prospectively on notice. Fees are stated to be non-refundable except where law or the schedule says otherwise. |

How it switches on
Moon documents two routes, and both end at the same panel in your account:
Referral route
Accounts arriving from a streamer or a cooperating affiliate are, in Moon’s wording, “normally automatically activated”. Normally is doing work in that sentence. If it does not appear, Moon points you at Support.
VIP route
Reach Bronze VIP and you get a VIP manager who turns it on for you, along with whatever else comes with the rank.
Either way, Account > VIP > Rakeback is the only screen that settles it. We opened an account through the MAXBONUS link in September 2026 and it was already on when we logged in. One account is one data point, not a promise about yours, so check the panel rather than trusting anyone about it.
The arithmetic, in dollars
Fees paid, times 3.5%. That is the whole thing. Moon’s own opening-fee example: a 1,000 wager at 10x leverage controls 10,000 of exposure and pays a 10 opening fee. 3.5% of 10 is 35 cents. That is your rakeback on that bet.
Stack it up and the base grows. Say you pay 10 in opening fees, 6 in holding fees across two 8-hour windows, and 24 in performance fees closing in profit. That is 40 in fees. 3.5% of 40 is 1.40. On a bet that made you money. On a bet that lost, it is smaller, because you paid no performance fee.
Nothing else feeds the calculation. Not the wager, not the exposure, not the deposit, not the profit or loss. Fees, and only fees.
Fee rebate calculator
Fee rebate calculator
Rakeback is a share of fees, so this calculator only takes fees. Enter the fees you have actually paid, and the share of them you believe qualifies. It does not estimate winnings, losses or a return, and it does not calculate 3.5% of a deposit, wager or leveraged position.
- Eligible fees
- 40.00
- Rakeback at 3.5% of eligible fees
- 1.40
Figures are unit-free, so use whatever currency your fees are in. Moon does not publish a fixed holding-fee rate and we have not proved which individual fee types count, so this is arithmetic, not a quote.
What one account cannot tell you
We opened an account, cleared verification, paid fees, watched a credit land. Genuinely useful, still not the whole picture:
- Whether every fee type contributes equally. Moon’s wording is “the Fees you pay”, which reads broad, and ours came off a mix, so we cannot split the credit across the three fee types.
- What the holding fee costs in cash. Moon says it is dynamic and prints no number. Anyone quoting you an average is guessing, confidently.
- The credit schedule. We saw one credit arrive. One is not a pattern, so we are not putting a frequency, minimum, ceiling or payout timing on it here.
- Whether automatic activation is reliable at scale. Ours was on without asking. One account is one account.
3.5% on fees paid
Operator documentedMoon’s Help Centre states that an account with rakeback activated gets 3.5% of the fees it pays back, on winning and losing wagers alike.

Rakeback credit observed in an account
Account testedA rakeback credit was observed arriving in the test account. First-hand observation in the September 2026 test account. One credit on one account. No payout schedule, frequency, minimum or cap is published here, because a single credit does not establish one.
