Play Money, and what it can and cannot teach you
Play Money gives you a fake 100,000 and lets you top it up forever. Great for learning the buttons. Useless for the part that actually decides how you play.
What Play Money is
A toggle in the main menu dropdown flips the account to a simulated balance. The balance refills to 100,000 and Moon documents unlimited refills. The whole feature set is available in the mode. You get the platform, you don't get the platform's teeth.
Moon calls it educational, and warns that simulated market conditions may not match live ones. Believe the warning.
What it shows you accurately
- Where everything lives: markets, direction, wager, leverage, the auto-close controls.
- How fast a leveraged position moves. Watching a 1000x wager get resolved in a heartbeat teaches more than any paragraph about it.
- Where the max-loss price sits relative to the entry price at each multiplier.
- How the interface behaves before real money is on the line and slowing your reflexes.
What it cannot show you
- How you behave when the money is real. Every honest account of gambling arrives here eventually, and no simulator reproduces the feeling of losing rent.
- The cumulative bite of the fee schedule on an actual balance, including a holding fee Moon calls dynamic and doesn't publish a rate for.
- Live execution conditions. Moon itself says simulation and live can differ.
- Anything about rakeback in practice. A simulated balance doesn't generate fees, and the 3.5% rebate on fees is calculated from the fees you pay. No fees, nothing to rebate.
A sensible way to use it
Use it for mechanical questions and nothing else. Where the controls are. What the max-loss line does at each multiplier. What an auto-close feels like when it fires. Then close it.
Do not read a run of simulated wins as evidence of an edge. Moon's own terms describe the products as gaming with Moon as the House and a house edge in the quoted price. A hot streak on fake money is not information about your next real bet. It is a mood.
