Account setup and identity verification

Verification is the step that decides whether an account is actually usable. Moon puts it before depositing, not before withdrawing. Learn the order or find out at the worst moment.

Eligibility comes first

Check availability before you register. Moon.com’s terms, dated15 July 2026, name 44 prohibited jurisdictions, including Afghanistan, Argentina, Austria, Australia, Belgium and Brazil, plus any territory where Moon does not hold a required licence.

See the full list and what it means. List last checked3 September 2026. A country missing from the list is not confirmed as approved.

Moon’s terms set a minimum age of 18, or the higher legal minimum where you are located. Using a VPN, a proxy, a false address or a nominee to get around a country restriction is a material breach.

No referral route changes any of this. MAXBONUS affects attribution, not eligibility.

The documented sequence

  1. Register and verify your email address

    Email verification happens during registration.

  2. Complete identity verification

A government-issued identity document, front and back, plus a proof of address. Verification is required before you can deposit.

Moon documents one account per person unless it authorises otherwise in writing.

  3. Wait for approval before expecting a withdrawal

Withdrawal requires approved verification. Depositing first and verifying later is not the documented order.

  4. Deposit in cryptocurrency, matching asset and network

Deposits are cryptocurrency only. The asset and the network must match the deposit address. Sending an asset on the wrong network is the classic way to lose a deposit permanently.

  5. Turn on the security features Moon documents

Two-factor authentication via an authenticator app, and passkey login using Face ID, fingerprint or device PIN. Account settings list active sessions, and a password reset logs out every session.

What verification asks for

  • A government-issued identity document, imaged front and back.
  • A proof of address.
  • A verified email address on the account.

Moon does not publish a processing time and we cannot see one in its documentation. Anyone quoting you a fixed number of hours is guessing.

Withdrawals and approval

Approved verification is a prerequisite for withdrawal. It is the single most important operational detail on this list, because an unverifiable account can hold a balance it cannot take out.

Moon’s terms also state that fees are non-refundable except where the law or the published fee schedule provides otherwise, and that the fee schedule can be amended prospectively on notice. No withdrawal timing is published here, no fee-free claim, no guaranteed payout statement.

Security settings

  • Two-factor authentication using an authenticator app.
  • Passkey login using Face ID, fingerprint or a device PIN.
  • An active-session list in account settings.
  • A password reset that logs out every session.
